Our trip around the Ring of Kerry was a bit on the wet side... It was still beautiful, but as Adaline said "will the rain go away???" She was cute walking around with an umbrella - and the rain didn't dampen our spirits...

Our first stop was a the Staigue Ring Fort, which was recommended by Rick Steves. We had to go off the beaten path to find it - along a single lane road, no less! - and it was worth the stop!

Through this little door was a "room" used by the people living in the fort. It was tiny.

As Bryan ran around looking for a bathroom, I got this pretty shot of the beach. No bathroom - but pretty views!

We had a fun visit to the Derrynane (pronounced Derry Nan) House. When we first arrived, we thought it was locked up - after walking all around, we ended up back at the house and discovered that it was indeed open after all! Ha! Next time we will check the "locked" gate to make sure it is really locked. :)

While the house was beautiful, Adaline prefered playing outside in the misty rain. She put on a dance performance for me and then practiced running up and down a "hill." We were glad to have her extend some energy for the hour we were there.

We lunched in Waterville and walked around for a little bit. I don't have the pictures of Bryan at the Waterville golf course (they are on Mom's camera) - but rest assured, he did walk on that hallowed ground...

As the day wore on, the weather got worse. It was pretty cold and windy towards the end of our trip - our last stop was at the Skellig Information Center, where we learned about a monastery that was on the Skellig Islands. Unbelievable - google the islands to see what they look like...

When we left Valencia Island, we rode on a ferry across the ocean. Mimi was a little nervous, but it was not bumpy at all. Adaline was so excited and immediately announced that she wanted to do it again!

The highlight of the weekend for Adaline was not the beautiful scenery - it was the daughter of the owners of our b&b. She is six years old and was very good with Adaline. They danced together to the Mama Mia soundtrack, and we will never forget watching their performance! The two of them danced and danced and danced, and we hated to take Adaline away for bedtime.
