November 14 - Limerick/Galway

Adaline and I drove up to Limerick to meet Bryan (he was speaking to a group at the University there) on Thursday afternoon. Getting the car was an adventure - but that is a different story altogether. :) We made it safe and sound and had a wonderful dinner with Bryan's colleague, Debra, who is originally from the US. Adaline helped move us out on Friday...

We drove up to Galway - and fell in love with it almost immediately! Eyre Square is the main square downtown. There are many beautiful pedestrian streets that we had the opportunity to explore. I wish I could say it was all fun - but little missy turned into a bit of a monster during our afternoon wanderings... Oh well - so it goes with a three-year old! :)

I paused for a little conversation with Oscar Wilde and his brother...
We wandered down to the Spanish Arch - and Adaline had great fun running around.
The river through Galway is a prime river for salmon to travel along. Bryan and I were surprised by how fast the river moved.

Christopher Columbus visited Galway before he traveled across the ocean blue...

These are two Galway hookers - the name they have for their boats.

One of the big things for tourists to do when visiting Galway is feed the swans - one of them became a little eager to visit with Adaline, and Bryan wisked her away. :) I had memories of getting bitten by one in Bishop Park as a child, so I was glad we averted disaster!
This is actually a posed sad Adaline - but this is pretty much how the day in Galway went! The highlight for her was finding this impromptu group of musicians playing one one of the streets. We sat and listened for about 15 minutes - and suddenly all was well!

The main castle in town is now a bank!
Eyre Square is also known as Kennedy Park - the Irish LOVE Kennedy!

We love Galway and will definitely have it on our list of places to visit again in the future...
